Prayer a unique key

A friend read a book, I can't remember which one now, about a praying team somewhere in East Africa that decided to spend time praying for their country. They felt the need to ask God for forgiveness for the country's sins and mercy so that they will not see war. They prayed consistently and fervently night and day.

As they prayed, one of them had a vision of a band of fearful soldiers on red horses galloping towards their country. He relayed the vision to his friends and again they prayed. This time he saw another vision. This time the soldiers suddenly made a 90 degree turn towards a neighbouring country.

Soon after, war broke out in that country and the praying team could only give glory to God for sparing them.

In Nigeria today, there are some people who have dedicated themselves to praying for Nigeria. I have met a few of them. I believe that with the level of tribal and ethnic tension we have, it is only God that has kept us at peace so far. But we should not rest on our oars.

The Redeemed Christian Church of God has set up a prayer chain to run from 1st of September 2006 to 31st of August 2007. During the 12 month period, there will be different people praying round the clock for the continued peace of Nigeria.

I think you should join them.

All you need to do is take a minimum of 5 minutes each day or each week and pray for the peace of your country. God said - If my people, who are called by name, will humble themselves and pray, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and forgive their sins and heal their land. May God heal our land. Amen
