THE LAST HOLIDAY
At home she has a scrap book labelled a book of possibilities; detailed with pictures of places she would like to visit and things she would like to do. The book becomes a place to store her dreams, vision and hopes; she reviews them at night but never gives a thought at the possibility of actually living them through.
One day, she hits her head on a cabinet and visits the hospital for a CT scan. In the course of the investigations she is diagnosed with a rare incurable disease and is given just three weeks to live.
Stunned and afraid, she goes home and ponders on all the things she had planned to do with her life. Suddenly she realises that even though she does not have much time, she still has three whole weeks.
She draws her life savings in cash and flies out to have her dream vacation in the Czech Rebublic. Georgia lands on the roof top in a hired helicopter. She makes extensive use of the hotels facilities, occupies the presidential suite, and attempts snow boarding. Her hearty laughter draws attention from other occupants of the hotel. She speaks up for the rights of some, and helps others take difficult decisions that will change their lives.
Georgia now lives, even though she is under a death sentence. She spends time with the chief chef in the kitchen as she dreams of running her own restaurant. But sadly it seems as if it is too late for that desire to be fulfilled now.
Towards the end of the third week, she gets a shocking fax message; she had been misdiagnosed due to a fault on the CAT scanner. She is not going to die after all. Her friends at the Hotel rejoice with her and the film ends with her back in her home town and running a successful restaurant. She stands at the entrance to welcome her guests; her broad grin evidence of her gratitude at another chance.
There is a message in this inspiring film for everyone who believes that the dreams burning in our hearts will be fulfilled tomorrow. Tomorrow never really comes. Today is the best time to live and to set up structures to become what you must become.
